In plain terms. These are the rules that cover buying from Montclair Collective. Order something and you’re agreeing to them. The parts most people actually need are the guarantee and its limits, which live on the Returns & guarantee page — in short: made to order, 12 hours to cancel, 7 days to tell us if something arrived wrong, and no change-of-mind returns.
1. Who we are
montclaircollective.com is the online shop of Montclair Collective (“we”, “us”, “our”). Where we are established, and the law that governs these terms, is set out in section 15.
Anything to do with these terms, an order or this website reaches a person at info@montclaircollective.com, or through the contact form. One inbox, usually answered within one business day. There is no call centre and no chat bot; a reply comes from somebody who can actually do something about it.
2. These terms
By browsing this site or placing an order you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the site. We may update them — the version published here at the moment you order is the one that governs that order, and the date it was last revised is shown at the top of this page.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18, or old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, to order from us. If you create an account you’re responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your login. Tell us at info@montclaircollective.com if you think someone else has access.
4. Orders and acceptance
An order placed through this site is an offer to buy. The contract forms when we send you an order confirmation email. Until then we may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item can’t be produced, if a price or description was clearly wrong, if payment fails, or if we suspect fraud. Where we cancel, you are refunded in full and we email you to explain.
5. Prices, taxes and duties
Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout and include shipping. We may change prices at any time, but never after you’ve been sent an order confirmation.
Orders crossing a border may attract import duty, VAT/GST or a customs handling fee charged by the destination country. Those charges are set by your government, not by us, and are your responsibility. We can’t predict them and can’t refund them. If a parcel is refused or abandoned at customs, the order is treated as a change-of-mind return — which, as section 8 says, is not covered.
6. Made to order
Nothing here sits in a warehouse. Every print is produced individually after you order, on archival paper with pigment inks, then despatched. Two things follow from that, and between them they are the part of this page most people need.
Made to order, so the window to change your mind is short: you can change or cancel for 12 hours after ordering — email info@montclaircollective.com with your order number. After that it is on the press.
And once it has been printed, we would rather reprint a genuine problem than have you post a large print back to us — see Returns & guarantee, which also sets out what is not covered.
7. Shipping and delivery
We ship worldwide with tracking. Made to order. On the press within 72h, then 8–13 days tracked. Estimated arrival: 15–20 Sep, shipping included. Those are estimates, not guarantees; couriers, customs and weather all get a say, and the production step is part of the total — a delivery estimate that starts at the order date and quietly drops the press is not a promise we make. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery, and if a courier loses or damages a parcel in transit we deal with it, not you.
It’s your job to give a complete and correct delivery address. If a parcel is returned to us because the address was wrong or nobody was there to receive it, we’ll reship it once you confirm a corrected address; a second production run may be chargeable.
8. Returns, cancellations and what is not covered
Covered in full on the Returns & guarantee page, which forms part of these terms. In short: 7 days from delivery to tell us something is wrong, one photo, nothing to post back, and every request reviewed individually rather than granted automatically.
And the limit, in the same breath rather than a page away: we do not accept change-of-mind returns, and that includes a size chosen wrong or a frame finish you decided against. Your copy is produced for your order and cannot be sold to anybody else.
Made to order, so the window to change your mind is short: you can change or cancel for 12 hours after ordering — email info@montclaircollective.com with your order number. After that it is on the press.
None of that displaces the consumer law where you live. Where that law gives you a cancellation right for a distance sale, you keep it; made-to-order goods are treated differently in different countries, and we will not pretend our policy overrides yours.
9. How the prints look
We photograph and describe every print as accurately as we can, and mock-ups and room shots are illustrative — they show scale and framing ideas, not the exact print you will receive. Screens vary: colour, contrast and brightness differ between phones, laptops and monitors, and a print will never match a backlit display exactly. Paper texture and slight variation between production runs are characteristics of the medium, not defects.
10. Intellectual property
The artwork, imagery, text, layout and code on this site belong to Montclair Collective or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Buying a print buys you the physical print for private, personal display.
It does not transfer copyright or any licence to reproduce, scan, re-print, resell commercially, or use the artwork in any commercial context. Please don’t copy our images or listing copy for another store. Licensing enquiries are welcome at info@montclaircollective.com.
11. Using this site properly
Don’t attempt to break, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to this site or the systems behind it; don’t upload anything malicious; don’t use the site to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights. Reviews and any other content you submit must be your own and must not be unlawful, abusive or misleading — we may remove content that isn’t, and by posting it you allow us to display it here.
12. Third-party services
Payment processing, production, delivery, email, analytics and advertising measurement are handled with the help of third parties, and this site may link to sites we don’t control. Their terms and privacy practices are their own; we’re not responsible for the content of external sites. Every processor that receives your personal information is named on the Privacy Policy page.
13. Disclaimers and liability
This site is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available but can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected with an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t lawfully be limited — including your statutory consumer rights.
14. Privacy
What we collect, why, which cookies this site sets, who your information is shared with and how to have it deleted are all set out on the Privacy Policy page, which forms part of these terms.
In short: we collect what an order needs, we measure how the site and our advertising perform, we don’t sell your personal data, and you can ask what we hold or have it deleted by emailing info@montclaircollective.com.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ontario, Canada, and the courts there have jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you’re a consumer, that doesn’t deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring a claim in your own courts where that law gives you one.
16. General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing something straight away doesn’t mean we’ve given up the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the Returns & guarantee and Privacy Policy pages, are the whole agreement between us about your order.
17. Contact
Questions about these terms, an order, or anything else: info@montclaircollective.com, or the contact form. One inbox, answered by a person, usually within one business day.
