Description
This F1 vintage pit crew poster is shot from above, so the crew read as a pattern first and as people second: dark uniforms arranged around a car that has been reduced to a smear of tone by the length of the exposure.
The overhead angle is what makes it. From the side a pit stop is a crowd; from above it is a diagram, and the geometry of who stands where becomes legible. In the era this picture belongs to a stop took the better part of a minute and involved refuelling by churn and wheels changed with hand tools.
