“Let the building do the shouting. The figure only has to stand still.”— Shazard R.
The building meets the frame at a steep angle and the subject stands where its two walls fold together, dressed in black against concrete gone almost white. The pose is easy, one hand in a pocket and the chin raised, and the architecture supplies the drama.
Shot from below, the picture borrows the language of editorial work: strong verticals, a single figure and tone in place of colour.

Shazard R.
Shazard R. is a Toronto photographer with fifteen years of professional work behind the camera, most of it in fashion and editorial. Those years built an eye for light, posture and the moment just before or after a pose.
Away from commissions, Shazard's own work leans cinematic: silhouettes held against the last of the light, portraits that read like stills from a film, and quiet studies of the city and its waterfront. The prints in this collection come from that personal archive, each one made to order and signed by hand.
Signed by the photographer. Kept with the print.
Each print ships with its own Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Shazard R.
