“That kind of light lasts a few minutes. You do not argue with it, you just keep shooting.”— Shazard R.
Low sun comes in from the side and the subject lifts a hand against it, so the light breaks into stripes across the face. Behind, the greenery falls into warm darkness.
It is a portrait about light as much as about a person, with warm skin tones, deep shadow and the brief, patterned glow that only lasts a few minutes at the end of the day.

Shazard R.
Shazard R. is a Toronto photographer with fifteen years of professional work behind the camera, most of it in fashion and editorial. Those years built an eye for light, posture and the moment just before or after a pose.
Away from commissions, Shazard's own work leans cinematic: silhouettes held against the last of the light, portraits that read like stills from a film, and quiet studies of the city and its waterfront. The prints in this collection come from that personal archive, each one made to order and signed by hand.
